This ultra-creepy-cool, identically-sided three-dimensional flying bat diecut decoration is Gibson Art Company’s work at its FRIGHTfully finest!
Gibson, from Cincinnati Ohio, produced this showy piece in the late 1930s. The body measures 10 ¾” long, 13 ¾” high with the wings fully extended. This leads me to believe that there were at least THREE sizes of this decoration made, since the measurements vary from the one seen on page 272 in the outstanding reference book entitled “Vintage Halloween Collectibles: Third Edition” by esteemed collector, expert and author Mark B. Ledenbach. It also varies from the size of the one in my own collection, which is much smaller.
